Job Overview:

A talented and skilled Marketing and Business Development Executive is required in the Textile or Apparel Manufacturing Industry to join the Executive Management Team. The role involves undertaking strategic marketing projects, identifying new revenue opportunities, and driving new customer growth. This position requires partnering with the Executive team to capitalize on opportunities for market expansion, increased profitability, and sustained success in a competitive business landscape.
The objective is to engage with the market and cultivate customer interest in products and services in ways that strengthen reputation and facilitate continuous growth.

Key Deliverables:

• Establish a business development unit to drive revenue through new business development opportunities as part of the company’s turnaround strategy.
• Develop a 3-to-5-year implementation plan to drive and increase revenue for the business.
• Create a marketing strategy based on trends and customer requirements, and establish new markets for products to ensure company sustainability.
• Oversee the staffing of the business development unit.
• Conduct extensive market research planning and reporting.
• Conceive and develop efficient and intuitive marketing strategies for the Hospitality, Retail, e-Commerce, and Exports industries to develop sustainable growth.
• Implement marketing strategies such as advertising, communication campaigns (TV, social media, radio, etc.), exhibitions, and promotional events.
• Develop and grow new business opportunities in hospitality and retail within the SADC region; East and North Africa; BRICS+ countries; and Europe.
• Build on existing relationships to develop and grow new business opportunities.
• Analyse the performance of current products and formulate future business strategies accordingly.
• Present new category recommendations to Sales Manager and Key Account Managers (including financials, reasoning, trends, and plans).
• Keep abreast of industry trends and new product ideas in local and international markets.
• Develop strategies based on financial plans (profitability targets, markup, and receipt flow) for current and future customers.
• Build strong relationships with current and new customers locally and internationally.
• Forecast business projections and trends, formulate result-oriented plans, and adhere to budgets and objectives.
• Negotiate buying terms with vendors (price, quantity, delivery terms, and markdowns).
• Conduct market research and analysis to evaluate trends, brand awareness, and competition ventures.
• Initiate control surveys to assess customer requirements and dedication.
• Approve copy for diverse marketing distributions (brochures, press releases, website material, etc.).
• Collaborate with managers in preparing budgets and monitoring expenses.

• Bachelor’s degree in Textiles, Textile Technology, or Product Business Development.
• 10+ years of proven track record in the development of new business and growth of current business.
• Demonstrated experience in the Hospitality, Retail, e-Commerce, or Exports industries for growth and new business development.
• Proven ability to build strong, long-lasting relationships with professionals at all organizational levels.
• Aptitude for identifying new areas for business growth and development.
• Ability to establish and maintain partnerships and provide thought leadership.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• High level of computer literacy.
• Strong business acumen with advanced analytical skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure to achieve targets and meet deadlines.
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to monitor and evaluate new opportunities in the industry.
