Manufacturing Research and Development Manager (Supply Chain/Procurement), Jhb West, Rneg 

• Grade 12/ NQF Level 4
• Degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain Management)
• Certification in procurement or supply chain management (SAPICS) – Advantageous

Lead and oversee research and development efforts to drive innovation and product development within a national manufacturing company, while also managing best supplier relationships and advising on procurement strategies.

• Develop and implement R&D strategies
• Support Director in managing the R&D team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations
• Oversee research projects from conceptualization to product launch
• Collaborate with other departments
• Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities
• Manage R&D budget and resources efficiently
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards
• Idea generation, research, planning, product costing and raw material sourcing
• Identify and evaluate alternative for raw material and components suppliers, both within South Africa and internationally, to optimize cost and quality
• Conduct thorough assessments of potential suppliers
• Develop in-depth knowledge of procurement processes and best practices
• Provide strategic recommendations to senior management on procurement decisions, supplier selection, and R&D initiatives
• Conduct cost-benefit analyses for new materials, technologies, or suppliers
