Manufacturing Execution Systems Engineer

SUMMARY:
We are looking for a Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Engineer based in Lynwood, Pretoria.

POSITION INFO:
JOB PURPOSE

• This position is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of complete Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions tailored to client requirements.
• The role involves engineering, configuring, and deploying MES solutions, with potential integration into SCADA, PLC, and ERP systems.
• The Senior MES Engineer will ensure seamless system functionality, optimization, and support, while also providing technical leadership and guiding project execution to successful completion.

• Engage with clients to understand and clarify their Manufacturing Execution System (MES) requirements, ensuring feasibility and alignment with business objectives.
• Gather all necessary specifications and information to enable the efficient planning and execution of MES projects.
• Design and develop MES solutions tailored to customer needs, ensuring cost-effectiveness and scalability.
• Lead the technical development, configuration, and deployment of MES solutions.
• Conduct comprehensive testing and validation to ensure system functionality, performance, and integration with plant control systems.
• Oversee the implementation and commissioning of MES solutions at client sites, ensuring optimal functionality and seamless integration with existing systems.
• Provide client training and technical support, ensuring users can effectively operate and maintain the MES system within its design constraints.
• Develop and maintain detailed project documentation, including system architecture, configuration details, and user manuals.
• Offer post-project system support and troubleshooting, addressing client needs as required.
• Act as a technical lead, guiding junior engineers and ensuring best practices in MES implementation and system integration.

• Degree or Technical Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent NQF level).
• 5+ years of experience in MES engineering, with a strong background in system integration and industrial automation.
• Expertise in TrakSYS MES is essential, including configuration, deployment, and customization.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, real-time data acquisition, and integration with SCADA, PLCs, and ERP systems.
• Exposure to the mining, manufacturing, or process industries is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of database systems (SQL) and industrial communication protocols (OPC, MQTT, Modbus, etc.).
• Ability to lead projects independently, manage multiple priorities, and work directly with clients.
• Experience with Aveva System Platform or Ignition is an advantage.
• Experience in industrial control system design and implementation is an advantage.
