Maintenance Operator (Semi-skilled Fitter)

SUMMARY:
Our client in the FMCG sector is looking for a Maintenance Operator/Semi -skilled Fitter to join their team in Gqeberha/Port Elizabeth

POSITION INFO:
Requirements: Experience / Qualifications:

• Grade 12
• N2 Mechanical qualification
• 8-10 years of experience in the mechanical field
• Experience working as a Semi-Skilled Fitter
• Valid Driver’s License (advantageous)
• Knowledge of mechanical maintenance and universal best practices
• Understanding of bearings and lubricants
• Experience with light to medium machinery
• Basic welding and fabrication skills, along with maintenance planning
• Familiarity with legislative and industry protocols and regulations related to maintenance
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills

• Maintain accurate records and complete job cards using the Prisma Maintenance system.
• Conduct equipment checks as per manufacturer requirements.
• Take initiative on all projects and complete them within the expected timeframe.
• Create schedules, assign tasks, and provide training to employees.
• Motivate team members to enhance productivity and meet work goals.
• Ensure proper maintenance of equipment, compliance with mechanical codes, and adherence to safety regulations.
• Supervise junior team members.
• Oversee installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and services of mechanical systems as required.
• Report any incidents to the maintenance manager.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices and address breakdowns promptly.
• Manage inventory, prioritize purchases, prepare cost estimates, and document all transactions.
• Assist with the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems as needed.
• Collaborate with the maintenance manager and contractors to resolve any arising issues.
• Follow up on corrective actions and implement measures to minimize recurrence of faults.
• Maintain effective health and safety systems, including risk assessments, method statements, and toolbox talks as appropriate.
• Ensure that all staff and subcontractors meet response and rectification times, completing repairs diligently and promptly.
• Take all necessary steps to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
