Maintenance Manager

SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:

• Experience: 5 to 10 years in a similar role, preferably in a lodge or hospitality setting.

• Technical Expertise:
  • Strong knowledge of construction, facilities management, and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Experience with water reticulation, boreholes, electrical systems, refrigeration, mechanical repairs, air conditioning, and sewage systems.
  • Understanding of water plants and septic plants (bio tanks and reed beds).

• Education & Certifications:
  • Matric certificate (minimum requirement).
  • Formal technical education in plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, refrigeration/air conditioning, mechanical, and electrical systems (beneficial).

• Leadership & Management Skills:
  • Ability to lead and supervise a maintenance team.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience in budgeting and cost control.
  • Knowledge of health & safety regulations and environmental compliance.

• Additional Skills & Requirements:
  • Hands-on, practical problem solver with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a remote location and adapt to challenges, including varying weather conditions.
  • Project management experience (advantageous).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with colleagues and guests.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and manage emergency situations.

• Other Requirements:
  • Valid RSA ID.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.
  • Must be willing to work on a 21-days-on, 7-days-off schedule.
  • Must be comfortable with live-in accommodation (single occupant only).
  • No pets allowed due to the nature of the environment.
