Maintenance Engineer

SUMMARY:
A well-established Conveyor Belt Company in Boksburg, Gauteng is looking for a Maintenance Engineer who will primarily be responsible for the maintenance and installation of a variety of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic systems including plant improvement activities within the organization.

POSITION INFO:
Main job function

• Ensure plant availability and reliable operation of machinery
• Provide detailed process guidance to the operation of power equipment
• Investigation and resolution of any unsafe methods that may result from unsafe act or working conditions arising from any deviation from set operating practices
• Install and maintain computer numerical controlled equipment
• Apply safety instructions with regard to: Safety regulations and procedures, chemical safety, hazard communication program, personal protective equipment, lifting procedures, back injury prevention, flammable storage, housekeeping and firefighting training
• Arrange, maintain and install wiring in the factory buildings in accordance with wiring plans
• Size and install conduits, conductors, switches, outlets and junction boxes
• Calculate power requirements for electrical systems (conductors, protective devices, physical protection)
• Perform periodic switchgear maintenance of relays and control switches; troubleshoot switchgear circuits and control switches; replace circuit components (instrument meters, surge protectors, relays, control switches).
• Interpret plans, sketches, diagrams (electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic), and specifications - identify all terms and symbols.
• Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality seamless customer service
• Review and update maintenance procedures and make recommendations for improvements
• Devise and maintain preventative maintenance programs
• Supervise and plan mechanical maintenance procedures

• Matric with NTC 3/Btec
• Qualified Technician – Mechanical Engineering is preferred

• 8 to 10 years’ relevant experience in Calendars, Belt Building, Vulcanising press, Repair and Slitting machines in a manufacturing environment
• MS Office skills
