Maintenance Engineer – Coil Coating

SUMMARY:
SydSen Group is seeking a qualified and experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our Coil Coating Line department in Gauteng. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient operation and statutory compliance of the plant, with a particular focus on the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS).

The successful candidate will manage the execution of maintenance strategies, oversee a technical team, and lead engineering projects while ensuring adherence to best practices.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities:

• Health and Safety Compliance
• Develop, implement, and manage preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to optimise system performance and ensure cost-effective operation.
• Plan and allocate manpower and resources to efficiently complete maintenance tasks and respond to operational requirements.
• Lead the team in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, and integrate these solutions into the organisation's operational control systems.
• Drive engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and according to the required specifications.
• Supervise and lead a team of Technicians and Artisans, ensuring maintenance standards are adhered to and the team functions at optimal levels.

Qualifications and Experience:

• BSc or BEng in Mechanical Engineering or a related qualification.
• A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a Maintenance Engineer role in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Must have or be willing to obtain a Government Certificate of Competency for factories within 24 months.
• Experience in developing and managing maintenance plans and working with heavy plant equipment.
• Knowledge of maintenance planning and strong technical acumen, with a background in the metals industry preferred.
