Legal Specialist

SUMMARY:
New opportunity is available for a Legal Specialist for our client in the Automotive Industry, based in Kariega.

POSITION INFO:
Applications are invited from suitably qualified & experienced candidates to fill the Specialist - Legal Services (Regulatory) position for our client in the Automotive Industry.

Relocation will be covered by the company

Duties:

Legal Advisory & Compliance

• Provide legal and business advice to support compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Stay updated on legal developments, especially within the motor industry.
• Critically review and provide feedback on draft legislation.
• Represent the company at industry legal forums (e.g., NAAMSA).

• Develop, maintain, and report on:
  
  • Regulatory universe
  • Risk Management Programme
  • Compliance Programme
• Ensure timely and accurate regulatory filings and responses to information requests.

• Oversee and manage litigation or alternative dispute resolutions, working with external legal counsel.
• Protect the company's intellectual property and reputation.

• Identify legal training needs and deliver relevant training within the organization.
• Support development of legal training modules with the training department.

• Coordinate with internal teams and specialist committees (e.g., Social & Ethics Committee).
• Collaborate with Group legal departments and subsidiaries, including those in Africa.
• Support Group initiatives and provide legal insights on regional matters.

• Promote ethical conduct and ensure the legal department upholds the Group's reputation.
• Act as the legal office of record for the company.
• Review internal presentations and submissions for legal compliance.

• Assist in developing projects to meet regulatory requirements.
• Recommend organisational directives in response to new legislation.
• Coordinate reporting on legal changes to stakeholders and management.
• Cooperate with external auditors for periodic reporting needs.

• Bachelor of Law (LLB)
• Admission as an Attorney/Advocate

• A minimum of 5 years post-admission experience, 3 of which must have been in commercial law or in a related area of law and 2 of which must have been as a regulatory specialist position in the automotive or other relevant industry.

• Experience in a legal practice is recommended
• Critical knowledge and experience on key regulatory legislation affecting Auto/Manufacturing Industry including but not limited to the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, Protection of Personal Information Act, Consumer Protection Act
