POSITION INFO:

Qualification and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree and admission as an attorney.
• Minimum five years’ experience in a Commercial / Corporate / Commercial Litigation / Insurance
Litigation Attorney capacity.
• Experience in Financial Services environment advantageous.
• Experience in technical legal interpretation, application and implementation.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:
• Lead the business in achieving legally and commercially sound outcomes and support business
interactions with external service providers and stakeholders.
• Anticipate and manage the legal risks connected with or resulting from the business strategy and
operations, ensuring minimum legal exposure for the organisation.
• Manage the negotiation and implementation of commercial legal projects and transactions.
• Assess the impact of legislative and/or regulatory developments on business and ensure overall
compliance of business operations with all relevant and applicable laws and regulations.
• Provide commercial legal advice and solutions to all areas of the business (including its
subsidiaries and affiliates).
• Provide effective and practical legal solutions aligned to business needs.
• Draft and review complex commercial and insurance legal agreements.
• Facilitate regulatory/legislative compliance.
• Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authorities
etc).
• Manage non-claims litigation mattersÂ

Knowledge and Skills
• In-depth experience and expertise in insurance, commercial or business law (preferably mergers
and acquisitions, corporate finance or banking and finance).
• Legal strategist with business acumen.
• Reviewing and drafting of complex commercial and insurance legal contracts.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders.
• Ability to interpret and analyse information.
• High degree of self-management, displaying an organised and measured approach.
• Leadership skills - ability to give direction to achieve desired outcomes and objectives or
purpose.
• Attention to detail.
• Risk management skills
