CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
The Department of Geoscience has long-standing expertise in Geological applications to a wide range of problems. In recent years we have been examining multidisciplinary research, providing high-quality education, and fostering innovation in these fields. This has lead to insights in key areas and allowed us to address complex geological questions, enhance our understanding of Earth processes, and train and prepare students in Geology and related Earth Science professions. In line with this we are seeking a lecturer in the broader field of Geology, with a particular focus on Applied aspects in the arena. The position is complimented by a large outdoor laboratory on the Southern Coast of South Africa with numerous possibilities for various research problems in the natural environment. The successful candidate should perform administrative functions within the department and enhance coordination between its geological and geographical divisions and strengthen collaboration with other academics in transdisciplinary studies.
