Lead Project Manager (Mining)

SUMMARY:
A well-known International Project Management Consulting Company based in South Africa requires the full-time services of a qualified and experienced Lead Project Manager to lead their Project Management team on capital projects in the mining industry, in the Western Cape. Exciting Contract to Permanent career opportunity.

POSITION INFO:
Duties & responsibilities:
Professional on site Project Management and Engineering Consulting services on mega mining projects - capital projects
Implementation and reporting of project controls - schedule control, contract management (NEC/FIDIC), Cost Control, Project Risk Management
Programme manager on construction projects in mining industry, lead project managers on various projects
Project Reviews and governance for Capital Management
Oversee project management on all projects internal to the company and external to clients relating to project delivery
Manage project reporting as well as portfolio reporting and project health status
Implement and improve project management systems (PMBOK), procedures, reports, management reports and portfolio reports
Oversee project financial forecasting
Project Manage projects to the company, managing engineering specialists and contractors
Provide specialized project management and consulting services to client base, including specialist services and audits; set-up of control schedules and control systems for the full scope of project management from Initiating, Planning, Executing, Control and Closure.

Qualifications and Experience

• DEGREE in Engineering (Mechanical/Civil/Electrical) – BSc / BEng / BTech and/or Advanced Project Management or relevant tertiary qualification
• 10+ years’ experience in Project Engineering and Project Management in the mining industry
• Experience in a similar role, project management of large construction and installation projects
• Scheduling and contract management knowledge
• Sound Understanding of construction and installation projects in the mining environment, multi-disciplinary engineering, EPCM
• Driven ‘Can-do’ attitude, with a passion for mega projects in the mining industry, willing and keen to work on site full time
• Process orientated and assertive to ensure that complex projects are executed in accordance with company established practices and safety requirements
• Bias for action based on logical problem solving and experience
• Able to work under pressure and to communicate effectively with a wide range of project stakeholders
• Attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of the outputs
• Analytical thinker, energetic and flexible
• Must be willing to relocate if appointed in permanent role
