An automotive OEM company is recruiting for the Laboratory Technicians in their Paint Shop – Production based Kariega)
Brief Role Description
To ensure, through Laboratory testing, analysis and investigation, that all materials used in the manufacture of our vehicles, conform to Konzern Specifications and Standards and also do not infringe on any National and Municipal By-laws
Possible Tasks within this Role
- Analyzing all inbound solvents materials for qualitative and quantitative properties using various Laboratory instrumentation.
- Ensuring that all routine tests required by Group standards are processed and documented accordingly
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of chemical analysis.
- Ensure that all the Laboratory instrumentation and facilities are calibrated and maintained.
- Maintaining laboratory management system for quality, administrative and technical operations
- Liaising with accredited laboratories to fulfill the Municipal by-law requirements
- Ensuring compliance by controlling safety requirements on the operation of the laboratory
- Liaising with internal customers and suppliers to ensure that the quality, cost and schedule standards of materials are adhered to
- Planning, implementing and controlling new work instructions and procedures, for new test methods required
- Coordinating and maintaining all technical and safety data sheets for materials used in the Paint Shop environment
Qualification & Experience requirements
- National Diploma Chemistry or relevant Engineering qualification
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in chemical analyses, including sample preparation, instrument operation, and data interpretation
- Good Understanding of Chemical Compliance Management and guiding regulations
- Sound technical knowledge of laboratory protocols, testing standards and ISO 17025
- Proven analytical and innovative approach to qualitative and quantitative analysis of products and line problems
- Computer skills (Windows, MS Office)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure and be self-motivated
- Sound communication skills and an ability to communicate at all levels
