Junior Sous Chef – Restaurant / Events, Cape Town

A upmarket restaurant and venue in Cape Town is seeking a talented and experienced Junior Sous Chef to join their kitchen. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate chef with a strong background in high-end cuisine to work in an exclusive, fast-paced environment. Candidates must be available for face-to-face interviews and cook-offs in Cape Town.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations.
Prepare and present high-quality dishes, ensuring consistency and excellence.
Maintain the highest standards of food hygiene, safety, and kitchen cleanliness.
Support menu planning, recipe development, and cost control.
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative kitchen environment.
Ensure stock control, inventory management, and efficient kitchen operations.

Requirements:

South African citizen or valid work permit.
Formal culinary qualification.
Minimum of 3 years’ recent experience in an upmarket / fine dining kitchen.
Strong knowledge of modern cooking techniques and plating styles.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-standard environment.
Excellent teamwork and leadership skills.
Availability for face-to-face interviews and cook-offs in Cape Town.
