Job Overview
Transport Refrigeration Specialists seek a motivated and technically skilled Junior Transport Refrigeration Technician and learn the trade.
This position involves supporting the installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of transport refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of refrigeration systems, strong technical aptitude, and a passion for learning.
Key Responsibilities
- System Installation and Servicing:
- Assist in the installation of transport refrigeration units on trucks, trailers, and other vehicles.
- Perform routine maintenance checks, ensuring systems operate efficiently.
- Support the troubleshooting and repair of refrigeration units under the guidance of senior technicians.
- Diagnostics and Repairs:
- Use diagnostic tools to identify system malfunctions.
- Assist in replacing faulty components such as compressors, evaporators, and electrical parts.
- Ensure all repairs meet quality and safety standards.
- Customer Interaction:
- Provide excellent customer service during on-site visits or at the workshop.
- Clearly communicate repair and maintenance findings to clients in a professional manner.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and time spent on tasks.
- Submit detailed service reports to the Service Manager or designated team lead.
- Adherence to Safety Standards:
- Follow all workplace safety regulations and company protocols.
- Properly handle and dispose of refrigerants and other hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with senior technicians and other team members to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Participate in ongoing training programs to develop technical skills and knowledge.
Qualifications and Skills
Education and Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Certification in refrigeration systems or HVAC (preferred).
- Refrigerant handling certification (e.g., F-Gas certification) is an advantage.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in refrigeration, HVAC, or a similar field (preferred but not mandatory for candidates with strong technical aptitude).
- Experience with transport refrigeration systems is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Basic understanding of refrigeration cycles, components, and tools.
- Familiarity with diagnostic equipment and repair tools.
- Proficiency in reading technical diagrams and manuals.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn.
Other Requirements:
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
