SUMMARY:
We require a Junior R&D Technologist in the Tulbagh / Winelands area. You will assist with research and development of new products as well as improve existing products in line with new trends in the market.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor degree or National Diploma in Food Science/Technology or a related field
Any additional certifications in product development or quality assessment will be advantageous
1-2 years experience withing FMCG sector (Internships will be applicable to year experience)
Exposure in Lab testing, formulation and pilot plant operations

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform product testing, sensory evaluations, and shelf-life studies to evaluate performance and stability
Support the evaluation of raw materials and sourcing of ingredients to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance
Help prepare product specifications, technical documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Work with production and quality assurance teams to ensure smooth transition from lab trials to full-scale production
Conduct competitor analysis and market research to identify trends and opportunities for innovation
Ensure adherence to food safety regulations (HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000) and customer requirements
Participate in troubleshooting product performance or production issues
Maintain accurate records of research findings, test results, and development progress
Stay informed about industry trends, emerging ingredients, and technological advancements in the food and beverage sector
