Junior R&D Technologist

SUMMARY:
We require a Junior R&D Technologist  in the Tulbagh / Winelands area. You will assist with research and development of new products as well as improve existing products in line with new trends in the market.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:

1. Bachelor degree or National Diploma in Food Science/Technology or a related field
2. Any additional certifications in product development or quality assessment will be advantageous
3. 1-2 years experience withing FMCG sector (Internships will be applicable to year experience)
4. Exposure in Lab testing, formulation and pilot plant operations

• Perform product testing, sensory evaluations, and shelf-life studies to evaluate performance and stability
• Support the evaluation of raw materials and sourcing of ingredients to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance
• Help prepare product specifications, technical documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Work with production and quality assurance teams to ensure smooth transition from lab trials to full-scale production
• Conduct competitor analysis and market research to identify trends and opportunities for innovation
• Ensure adherence to food safety regulations (HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000) and customer requirements
• Participate in troubleshooting product performance or production issues
• Maintain accurate records of research findings, test results, and development progress
• Stay informed about industry trends, emerging ingredients, and technological advancements in the food and beverage sector
