SUMMARY:
A position is available for a junior quantity surveyor in East London, Eastern Cape.
Non-negotiable Requirements:
- 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor
- A working knowledge of Candy System (CCS)
- A working knowledge of Buildsmart
Duties will include but are not limited to:- Prepare detailed repair costs reports on all fleet including equipment for management
- Load requisitions that turns into orders using Buildsmart system
- Work with project BOQ’s to ensure only what is allowed for a project is ordered
- Liaise with Site Managers and Foremen as to what their needs are and when material is required and wasted
- Reviews contract documents and assists with procurement, pre-bid conferences and evaluations
- Monitor claims, suggests ways to mitigate impacts and develop workarounds
- Responsible for fixing process
- Responsible for approving all construction related purchases on behalf of the company
- Responsible for overseeing the costing and billing of every project
- Control costs to achieve company budget goals
- Forecasting supply and demand to prevent overstocking and running out of stock (OOS)
- Review contract document evaluations
- Monitor and review projects and additional works
- Measure and compile BOQ and resource list on CCS Candy
- Estimating the BOQ as well as variation from drawings
- Evaluating of quotes from Sub-Contractors work on a weekly basis for progress payments
- Cashflow for different projects relating to the construction Operations Manager for the projects
- Costing of various projects
- Continuous updating of all projects on CCS and integrating with CCS Buildsmart
- Manage syncro between Candy and Buildsmart
- Develop and maintain progress metrics on key performance indicators on Site
- Assisting relative parties where needed
- Check all drawings for correction when received
Procurement Management:- Development and implementation of procurement policies & system strategies to support tendering, contracts management, spend analytics and supplier performance management
- Gather detailed specification of what is required from Commercial Manager in order to negotiate for correct product
- Carry out market analysis for best purchasing deals
- Evaluation of prospective Suppliers before signing them up
- Maintaining and reviewing all purchased goods records (including costs, deliveries and inventories)
- Drive continuous improvement, best value and quality improvements within the team and departments in challenging existing practices and actively seek ways to achieve better outcomes, contributing to ensure key performance and financial targets are met and corrective action taken where necessary
- Report to Commercial Manager from time to time to provide up to date reports on procurement
- Develop collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and external providers
- Facilitate development of relationships with existing and potential suppliers and act as principal conduit for formal communications during procurement process
