Job Description
The Resort Manager is responsible for the efficient running of the resort as a whole and for the Maintenance of the units, offices, gardens & grounds. The standard of maintenance at the resort must be in accordance with current industry expectations and improvements must be undertaken constantly. Resort stock and assets must be controlled, and the stock usage must be cost effective. The budgetary requirements must be adhered to. A high standard of cleanliness must be maintained. Efficient duty rosters must be distributed to all employees and monitored. Staff performance must be evaluated and maintained/improved. Assume overall responsibility for all Food & Beverage outlets, Convenience Stores, Adventure Activities and Day Spa where applicable. Maintain healthy relations with all outsourced operators. Effectively delegate various responsibilities to the relevant senior management whilst maintaining overall accountability.
- Ensure that all aspects of dealing with guests, procedures and documentation is managed in accordance with Company procedures including all reception procedures, check in/outs, etc.
- Conduct regular inspections of games room, laundry, gardens and maintenance areas.
- Ensure that the resort maintenance register and housekeeping register is checked and updated on a daily basis.
- Undertaking all monthly stock takes and checking all stocks and stock levels, completing the month end stock takes and submitting the housekeeping and maintenance reports
- Timeous ordering of consumables and replacements
- Complete cash ups, reconciling, petty cash summaries, receipts and banking of all resort income and forwarding the relevant schedules via email and post to the Resorts Department.
- Ensure resort vehicle in maintained as per company rules and regulations.
- Completing resort vehicle log book and forwarding to the Resorts Department at year end.
- Administer petty cash and obtain approval of an item over R500 from the Resorts Department.
- Undertake annual and cyclical budgeting.
- Preparing preliminary prioritized major asset replacement schedules and requests.
- Consumable stock control and reporting as well as responsible for resort asset control
- Choosing and appraising at least 5 – 7 units per week per resort to evaluate the quality of maintenance and housekeeping.
- All aspects of HR including but not limited to submitting wage registers by the set deadline to Resorts Admin Department and Payroll, deal with all aspects of personnel and submit to head office human resources department timeously (including discipline), interviewing prospective staff, dealing with unions
- Scheduling staff meetings to advise staff of latest developments, ensuring that all staff performances are productive and that all procedures and are adhered to and undertake staff training on a regular basis
- Carry out staff appraisals
Qualifications
Hotel Management diploma preferred
Skills
At least 5 years experience in similar role for large resort. Ability to work remotely.
