Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Instrument Engineer with over 10 years of experience in the oil, gas, and construction industries. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in the design, installation, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems. This position is based in Saudi Arabia, and the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing complex instrumentation systems on large-scale oil and gas projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement instrumentation and control systems for oil, gas, and construction projects, ensuring compliance with international standards and regulations (e.g., ISA, IEC, API, ANSI).
- Prepare technical specifications, instrumentation datasheets, and control system designs for field and control room applications.
- Select appropriate instruments, materials, and components based on project requirements, safety standards, and cost-efficiency.
- Perform calculations for instrument sizing and determine the design parameters for field installations.
- Oversee the installation, calibration, and commissioning of instruments and control systems, ensuring adherence to project schedules and safety protocols.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of instruments and systems on-site to ensure they are functioning correctly and meet operational specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation-related issues, including signal discrepancies, system faults, and performance problems.
- Support project managers and engineers in the integration of instrumentation systems with other engineering disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, and process engineering.
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures for instrumentation systems to ensure long-term functionality and reliability.
- Ensure that all instrumentation work complies with relevant safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies, and other safety assessments for instrumentation and control systems.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and field technicians.
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including instrumentation and control system manuals, reports, and design updates.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure the timely procurement and delivery of instrumentation and control systems.
- Prepare and review project schedules and cost estimates for instrumentation and control system activities.
- Monitor and report on the progress of instrumentation-related tasks and ensure timely project delivery.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in instrumentation engineering within the oil, gas, and construction industries.
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation design, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Extensive experience with control systems (DCS, SCADA, PLC) and related instrumentation technologies.
- Proficient in using design software such as AutoCAD, SmartPlant, or similar tools.
- In-depth knowledge of safety standards, codes, and regulations in instrumentation and control systems.
- Experience in preparing technical documentation, specifications, and reports.
- Familiarity with instrumentation systems used in oil and gas plants, refineries, and construction projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with project teams, clients, and suppliers.
- Experience with HAZOP, SIL (Safety Integrity Level) studies, and other safety assessments is highly desirable.
- Previous experience working in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East is an advantage.
Preferred Skills:
- Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Chartered Engineer, or similar).
- Knowledge of local engineering standards and regulations in Saudi Arabia.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
