Internal Compliance Officer/In-House Legal

POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements:
- LLB
- Articles completed
- Minimum of 2 years relevant practical experience (company law, tax law, trust law, deceased estates, and legislative compliance)
- Admitted Attorney would be advantageous
Duties:- Draft and/or review various legal documents, letters, contracts, minutes, etc.
- Ad hoc advisory services to partners, clients or senior staff, on various legal topics
- Draft legal memorandums/opinions of various legal topics in the commercial-, trusts-, deceased estates and tax environment
- Research and provide client specific opinions or solutions as required
- General company secretarial-, estates-, trusts- and corporate services functions
- General administration surrounding annual general meetings and board meetings, including minute keeping & chair
- Measure internal compliance with current legislation, processes, policies and standards
- FICA compliance
- POPI compliance
- Improve internal processes, policies and standards
- Contribute to the de-escalation of legal problems of any nature as experienced in the firm and with clients
- General estate planning
- Develop training material based on research or internal procedures as required
- General assistance with deceased estate administration and trust administration
- Preparation of standard forms
- Ensure electronic and physical data integrity is maintained
