POSITION INFO:
My client, a leading retail group, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Imports Manager to join their team in Johannesburg.

As an Imports Manager, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the entire import process, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, and optimising supply chain efficiency. You will work closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to drive seamless import operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the full import process, including documentation, customs clearance, and logistics coordination.
• Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and company policies.
• Develop and implement import strategies to improve cost efficiency and operational effectiveness.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, freight forwarders, and regulatory authorities.
• Monitor and optimize lead times, ensuring the timely delivery of imported goods.
• Manage and resolve import-related issues, including discrepancies, delays, and supplier challenges.
• Collaborate with internal teams (procurement, logistics, and finance) to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
• Stay up to date with market trends, import regulations, and industry best practices.
• Prepare and present reports on import activities, costs, and performance metrics.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, or a related field.
• Currently employed as an Imports Manager within the retail industry.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an imports management role.
• Strong knowledge of import regulations, customs procedures, and international trade compliance.
• Experience working with SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or other relevant ERP systems.
• Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
