IT Systems and Network Administrator

SUMMARY:
Our client in the Manufacturing industry is looking for an experienced IT Systems and Network Administrator to join their team in Amanzimtoti. You will be responsible for managing IT systems and network infrastructure. Your duties will include will manage and optimize our IT infrastructure, ensure the smooth operation of engineering applications, and enhance overall departmental efficiency. This role encompasses systems administration, network management, software coordination, and comprehensive technical support., monitoring network performance, managing software licenses (especially Siemens products). This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities to effectively liaise between your organization and Siemens support.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred, but not required
• Equivalent practical experience or self-taught expertise will be strongly considered
• Candidates with non-traditional educational backgrounds who can demonstrate relevant skills and knowledge are encouraged to apply

• Significant experience in IT systems and network administration
• Candidates with diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply, including those with:
• Relevant certifications and hands-on experience
• A combination of education and practical experience
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies

• Familiarity with Oracle databases and ability to coordinate with external DBAs
• Strong knowledge of network administration and performance monitoring tools
• Experience with software license management, especially Siemens products
• Proficiency in liaising with software vendors to resolve technical issues
• Experience in evaluating and implementing new software technologies
• Familiarity with the installation and maintenance of the specified software applications

• Understanding of network security principles
• Experience with disaster recovery planning and risk management

• Certifications such as CCNA or equivalent are desirable
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
• Willingness to provide support outside regular business hours when necessary

• Perform basic Oracle database administration tasks
• Coordinate with contracted Oracle DBAs for advanced database requirements
• Ensure data integrity and assist in data recovery procedures when needed

• Manage and maintain the company's network infrastructure
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime
• Implement upgrades and enhancements for optimal network efficiency

• Oversee licenses for Siemens products and other engineering applications
• Ensure compliance with all software licensing agreements
• Manage data recovery processes related to licensed software

• Diagnose and resolve IT system faults to prevent downtime
• Provide technical support to staff, including after-hours assistance when necessary
• Maintain overall network security, including disaster recovery and risk management strategies

• Investigate future software solutions, such as Process Simulation on Teamcenter
• Evaluate new technologies to enhance departmental capabilities
• Provide recommendations on software adoption and integration

• Liaise with Siemens to create Incident Reports (IR) for identifying and resolving software bugs
• Provide regular updates to department managers on IT issues and resolutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges

• Install and maintain various software applications, including:
• Oracle Database (with support from DBAs as needed)
• EMS Server
• Siemens Process Simulate (Client & Local setup)
• Foxit Reader
• Microsoft Teams and Office Suite
• CAD Exchanger
• Notepad++
• JT2Go
• 7-Zip
• RCS modules for Process simulation. This will be internally taught.
• DWG TrueView

• Create comprehensive training materials and IT procedure documentation
• Research and manage a Learning Management System (LMS) for ongoing staff training

• Provide IT support for remote offices, including tunnel maintenance and uptime monitoring
• Ensure reliable connectivity and performance for remote operations

• Continuously evaluate and upgrade IT infrastructure to enhance work efficiency
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements

• Create detailed Incident Reports (IRs) to document software bugs and issues
• Collaborate with Siemens support team to investigate and resolve software problems
• Provide clear, comprehensive information in reports to facilitate efficient bug resolution
• Follow up on IRs to ensure timely resolution of identified issues
• Maintain a log of all submitted IRs and their statuses
• Communicate updates on IR progress to relevant stakeholders within the organization
