Role Description (Overview)
The primary role of this job is to support good health and safety practices within the food manufacturing process through well-developed cleaning processes, used equipment, and training provided.

Educational Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Meat Science (strongly preferred)
• Any of the listed Food Safety Certifications:
  • HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) standards and Hygiene Practice
  • ISO 22000, ISO 14001
  • ISO 9001
  • OHSAS 18001 - Occupational Health and Safety Management System (essential as nature of job requires)
• National Senior Certificate - Grade 12

• 3 - 5 years working experience in meat-related field
• At least 2 years of managerial experience in a similar position
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and AbaServe

POSITION INFO:
Key Performance Areas:

• Maintain the hygiene inspection log book.
• Ensure that all aspects of the hygiene services are carried out and maintained to the required standard.
• Manage the hygiene budget and record all authorized expenditure.
• Manage the ordering and stock control of hygiene consumables and chemicals.
• Maintain detailed cleaning instructions and schedules for every hygiene activity to meet the requirements of the food safety standards.
• Manage pest control and oversee the completion of all pest prevention actions to the required standards.
• Oversee the day-to-day running of the staff facilities including vending services, maintenance of stocks/consumables in the staff canteen, staff washroom facilities, and all associated equipment.
• Conduct compliance audits/inspections of internal hygiene standards and documentation.
• Manage the provision of hygiene chemicals and dosing equipment on-site, including regular reviews with chemical suppliers, periodic chemical dosing checks, maintenance of equipment, and oversee the safe storage, decant, transport, and use of chemicals on-site.
• Provide training and awareness for all hygiene and waste handling staff in all procedures relevant to their role.
• Ensure all tasks are conducted in accordance with all legislative, company, and site health & safety policies and ensure that all hazards, accidents/incidents are reported and investigated in a timely manner.
• Ensure material safety data sheets for all chemicals used on site are maintained, updated regularly, and are accessible to all staff.
• Carry out any reasonable request from the Managing Director in order to meet the needs of the business.
• General - Ensure all disciplinary incidents and staff absence are dealt with in a professional and timely manner and in accordance with the company Human Resources policies.
