Hospital Engineering Manager

A hospital group is seeking a Hospital Engineering Manager for a Parktown hospital.

POSITION INFO:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hospital Engineering Manager to lead and oversee all engineering operations within the hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of hospital facilities, medical equipment, and building systems. You will manage a dedicated team of engineers, ensuring that all systems and infrastructure meet regulatory standards and hospital requirements for patient care, safety, and comfort.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of all hospital engineering systems, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and medical gas systems.
• Manage the performance and maintenance of critical hospital equipment and technologies, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Lead a team of Engineers and Technicians, providing guidance, mentorship, and support for continuous professional development.
• Develop, implement, and enforce preventive maintenance schedules for hospital infrastructure and equipment.
• Coordinate and supervise emergency repairs, troubleshooting, and technical support to minimize downtime and disruption to hospital operations.
• Monitor and manage energy usage and sustainability initiatives, ensuring cost-efficiency and adherence to environmental standards.
• Collaborate with hospital administration and department heads to ensure engineering projects and upgrades align with hospital needs.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, codes, and quality standards (e.g., ISO 13485, OSHA, Joint Commission).
• Develop and manage budgets for engineering operations, projects, and equipment procurement.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure all systems meet safety and operational standards.
• Respond to facility emergencies and ensure rapid resolution of critical issues.

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field). A Master's Degree is a plus.
• Proven experience in hospital or healthcare facility management, engineering, or maintenance, with a focus on critical systems and infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of healthcare building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and medical gas systems.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams and projects.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a hands-on approach to managing critical systems.
• Ability to manage budgets, resources, and timelines effectively.
• Experience with energy management and sustainability practices in a healthcare environment is a plus.
