Health and Safety Manager

SUMMARY:
We require an experienced Health and Safety Manager in the Tulbagh / Winelands area. You are a strategic Manager who will assist the company to reach its overall goals and foster a culture of continuous improvement and growing.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:

1. Grade 12
2. Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferably in within the agricultural, food processing, or manufacturing sectors)
3. At least 6 years experience in similar role
4. Relevant certifications such as SAMTRAC, NEBOSH International General Certificate, or similar
5. Certification in First Aid, Firefighting, or Emergency Response will be advantageous

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures
• Ensure full compliance with the South African Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act, industry regulations, and international HSE standards
• Conduct regular risk assessments, audits, and site inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
• Lead investigations into workplace incidents, near misses, and accidents, ensuring root cause analysis and the implementation of preventative measures
• Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees and management to promote awareness and compliance
• Establish emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure readiness
• Monitor and analyze HSE performance metrics, reporting to senior management with recommendations for continuous improvement
• Ensure the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and monitor compliance across all levels of the organization
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, conduct compliance audits, and ensure all required documentation and permits are up to date
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement by promoting safety initiatives and employee engagement programs
• Collaborate with HR and operational teams to address health and wellness concerns
