Head of Investments and Fund Management

SUMMARY:
We are seeking a dynamic and highly experienced professional to lead and grow the Investments and Fund Management Division. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate investment management, with a focus on delivering strategic outcomes, driving financial performance, and building relationships with financiers and investors.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

• Define and manage the strategic outcomes of the Investments and Fund Management Division.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop new property investment products, including sector-specific and geographic expansion beyond South Africa.
• Establish and nurture strategic relationships with financiers, both equity and debt, to secure third-party capital.

Operational Management:

• Oversee daily operations, including financial performance evaluation, stakeholder relationship management, and leading a team of investment professionals.
• Ensure governance, compliance, and performance monitoring of investments.

Financial & Investment Management:

• Source and evaluate real estate investment opportunities, reaching financial close before deploying capital.
• Manage the performance of investments through their life cycle, ensuring target returns are met.
• Prepare detailed reports for investors and manage compliance with shareholder agreements.

Specific Funds Oversight:

• Manage platforms targeting high IRRs, ensuring they meet their investment and financial objectives.
• Source equity, maintain relationships with investors, and ensure timely reporting and compliance.

Team Leadership:

• Lead and mentor the Investments and Fund Management team, setting key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensuring they achieve both divisional and company objectives.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

• Education: Honors Degree in Business, Finance, or Property Studies. CA (SA) or CFA qualification is advantageous.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years in real estate investment management, including 2 years in project development.
• Strong financial modeling capabilities and a deep understanding of property management and building components.
• Excellent analytical, leadership, and project management skills.

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to travel for market analysis and new investment opportunities.
• Strong knowledge of contract documents, investment reports, and financial statements.
• Advanced skills in budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management.
