SUMMARY:
Take the lead in shaping the future of a fast-growing fintech as Head of Compliance and Risk. You'll be responsible for building and executing global compliance frameworks, navigating complex regulations, and supporting strategic growth into new markets. This is a key role for a seasoned professional who can align risk management with bold, innovative expansion.

POSITION INFO:

Strategic Compliance Leadership
Develop and implement compliance and risk strategies aligned with business objectives and regulatory standards
Lead compliance across global operations, ensuring consistent adherence across jurisdictions
Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, fostering proactive and transparent engagement
Regulatory Expansion & Licensing
Drive regulatory readiness for new market entry, overseeing all licensing processes
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure legal compliance of all new products and services
Risk Frameworks & Governance
Establish robust risk management systems, including controls and mitigation plans
Implement early-warning reporting structures to inform strategic decision-making
Operational Compliance Management
Guide teams through regulatory changes, embedding compliance into daily operations
Lead internal audits, policy updates, and staff training to reinforce compliance culture
Reporting, Representation & Stakeholder Engagement
Ensure timely and accurate submission of all regulatory reports and filings
Represent the company in audits, industry forums, and regulatory consultations
Team Leadership & Culture Development
Build and mentor a high-performing compliance team with a focus on agility and accountability
Champion a culture of compliance through clear communication, ownership, and integrity

Skills & Experience:
5–10+ years of senior-level experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs
Demonstrated success in financial services sectors such as fintech, banking, or payments
Hands-on experience engaging with financial regulators and supervisory authorities
In-depth understanding of key regulatory areas, including AML, KYC, POPIA/GDPR, consumer protection, and payment systems
Proven ability to lead and manage regulatory license applications across local and international jurisdictions
Solid grasp of enterprise risk management and governance frameworks, such as ISO 31000 and COSO

Qualification:
A tertiary qualification in Law, Finance, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field
A relevant professional certification and/or a postgraduate degree is highly advantageous
