Our client a leader in the digital media and entertainment industry is looking for Head of Artificial Intelligence to join their dynamic and fast-paced team, where technology, content, and innovation shape South Africa’s top digital, print, and ecommerce platforms.

As Head of Artificial Intelligence, you'll craft and implement groundbreaking AI strategies that align with the company’s mission. Your work will be at the heart of accelerating our digital transformation by amplifying the impact of artificial intelligence for our consumer products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a strategic AI vision aligned with the company’s goals.

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI models and solutions.
• Manage and mentor a team of AI data scientists, machine learning engineers, and analysts.
• Collaborate with content, technology, and business teams to identify AI opportunities and drive innovation.
• Analyse and interpret complex datasets to provide actionable insights.
• Drive automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
• Communicate AI strategies and outcomes to stakeholders, including executives and non-technical audiences.

The AI team:

You will lead and be supported by an established team of data scientists and data engineers, as well as the head of accelerated AI adoption.

Qualifications:

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Proven experience in AI development and deployment, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Experience building and leading a high-performance data science/AI team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
• Strong expertise in AI/ML frameworks and tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, and cloud services - Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Excellent understanding of natural language processing (NLP), Large Language Models, GenAI and data analytics.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to translate AI concepts into business value.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
