POSITION INFO:
We invite applications for the position of Head Ranger at our prestigious Private Game Reserve in the Western Cape. Join us in our mission to protect and conserve our incredible wildlife and natural environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guided Game Drives:
- Conducting informative and engaging game drives for lodge guests.
- Ensuring a high standard of guest experience during wildlife encounters.
- Sharing knowledge about flora, fauna, and conservation efforts.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervising and leading a team of rangers.
- Providing training and development opportunities for team members.
- Coordinating game drives to optimize guest experience.
- Wildlife Conservation:
- Collaborating with Reserve staff to monitor and contribute to wildlife conservation efforts.
- Educating guests and staff on the lodge's conservation initiatives.
- Guest Relations:
- Interacting with guests in a professional and courteous manner.
- Handling guest queries and ensuring their safety during game activities.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforcing safety protocols during game drives to ensure the well-being of guests and staff.
- Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance:
- Overseeing the maintenance of safari vehicles and equipment.
- Conducting regular checks to ensure the safety and reliability of vehicles.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Previous experience as a senior guide or head ranger in a similar environment.
- Extensive knowledge of the Big Five and conservation practices.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- First Aid and Field Guide qualifications.
- Strong communication skills in English; additional languages may be an advantage.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
