Group Accountant

POSITION INFO:
My client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Group Accountant to join their finance team.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in consolidating group accounts, managing the annual audit process, ensuring IFRS compliance, and overseeing finance personnel.

This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional looking to make a significant impact within a dynamic group environment.

This a 6 month maternity contract that is based in Modderfontein, Johannesburg East.

Key Responsibilities:
Consolidating Group Accounts:

• Review and analyze monthly reports received and resolve queries with business units.
• Assist subsidiary accountants in preparing their individual management packs.
• Prepare reporting documents for management, including consolidated income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

• Prepare for and coordinate the annual audit.
• Collaborate with auditors to provide requested information, address queries, and support system checks and documentation requirements.
• Assist the CFO in preparing year-end annual packs and financial statements.

• Manage, coach, and train finance personnel to ensure efficient operations.

• Support the CFO with various ad hoc projects as required.
• Oversee the administration of the accounting systems and management of the individual chart of accounts.

• Provide technical accounting recommendations on current and future accounting transactions.
• Liaise with group auditors and advisors to ensure compliance with changes in accounting standards and legislation.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred.
• Proven experience in group accounting and financial consolidation.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and statutory compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
• Proficiency in financial reporting systems and MS Excel.
