Governance, Risk and Compliance Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client in the industry of Property based in the North of Johannesburg is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Manager to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework.

POSITION INFO:
This role is pivotal in providing quantitative risk analytics, advising on risk impacts and opportunities, and ensuring regulatory compliance and robust internal controls. The GRC Manager will collaborate closely with Internal Audit and other assurance activities to foster an integrated approach to risk management. Acting as a second line of defense, the incumbent will play a key role in facilitating day-to-day risk management operations.

Duties:

• Assist in developing and planning ERM activities, budgets, and resources annually
• Regularly review and align the group's ERM and Compliance Management Frameworks with industry best practices
• Collaborate with the Head of Risk and Compliance to facilitate the entire ERM lifecycle, focusing on integrating risk management into strategic and operational processes
• Continuously improve the existing risk management processes through regular reviews
• Facilitate risk assessments across functional areas and maintain operational risk registers
• Monitor emerging risks and significant risk movements, and report on related management actions
• Develop systems to align risk identification with the group's targets and objectives.
• Ensure comprehensive risk assessments, including all risk categories and relevant compliance requirements
• Monitor incident management and provide trend analysis, performance monitoring, and assurance
• Stay informed on regulatory changes and advise business units on compliance obligations
• Maintain an ongoing profile of key risks and emerging trends across the business
• Consult with operational managers to ensure conformance with applicable laws and regulations
• Identify compliance risks and implement corrective action plans

• Matric (Grade 12)
• BCom Risk Management, Business Administration, or Legal
• Qualification in Mathematics or Statistics.
• Certified Risk Management Practitioner/Professional (CRM Prac/Prof) is advantageous.
• Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) credentials are beneficial.
• Membership in the Institute of Risk Management

• Minimum of 10 years in operational risk management at a managerial level
• 8-10 years in compliance, ethics, legal, risk management, internal audit, or similar governance roles.
• In-depth knowledge of regulations and laws, particularly anti-corruption and anti-bribery
• Experience in fraud prevention and investigations
• Expertise in risk quantification methodologies and impact analysis

• Deep understanding of risk and opportunity identification, assessment, and mitigation techniques
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage stress appropriately
• Strong analytical skills and methodical work approach
• Proactive attitude with the ability to influence and seize opportunities
• Adaptability to change and effective collaboration across various business units
