POSITION INFO:
There is position for GENERAL ENGINEERING SUPERVISOR (MECHANICAL) Free State.
The role:
The role is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of plans to manage company Engineering Assets, Resources and Infrastructure – availability of machinery and equipment and managing resources and people to achieve planned production targets.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Maintain safe work practices and a safe working environment by ensuring that legal requirements and group working standards and policies related to engineering are implemented and followed on the Operations and Projects
- Optimise planned maintenance schedules of machinery and equipment ensuring that equipment is effectively maintained
- Research and implement best practice systems with respect to cost, maintenance, safety and people management
- Effective People management, ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and that competencies and learning paths are developed to human capacity and capability
- Financial Budgeting & Management
- Participate in ad hoc projects providing input into drafting of scope for new projects
- Sound knowledge of conveyor belts, transfer chutes, screening, crushing, stacker-reclaimers, pumps, dense medium separation plant and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment
- Manage conveyor belt inventory and forecasting
- Management of critical spares and sub-assemblies (stock levels/turnaround time and quality of repairs)
- Structural integrity maintenance management
- Managing structural/mechanical/hydraulic drawing libraries
Requirements:
- N4 Technical certificate and recognised Trade Test in the relevant discipline or National Diploma or Engineering Degree
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as an appointed 2.9.2 Engineering Foreman
- Safety & Risk Management Course
- Knowledge of Relevant Legislation including: The Mine Health and Safety Act, Minerals and Energy Act, Basic Conditions of Employment and Environmental Legislation
- An in-depth knowledge of technical engineering aspects such as outside equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and South Africa Bureau of Standards (SABS)
- A good working knowledge and understanding of machinery and equipment used in the Mining industry
- Aware of best practices and new technologies relating to Engineering Principles and Processes
- Computer Literacy: MS Office and SAP
- Valid driver’s license
- In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
