SUMMARY:
An exciting and challenging opportunity is available for a forward thinking, self-motivated, driven and dynamic GIS Analyst to work hand in hand with the team and Directors of Akhile Management and Consulting (Pty) Ltd at its Pretoria Offices.
POSITION INFO:
PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE:
An experienced and energetic candidate is required for this position, as the successful applicant will have to be proactive, work under pressure, take initiative and liaise with stakeholders and able to think on their feet and make decisions.
The successful applicant will be required to lead and deliver on project deliverables and will be directly involved in growing and enhancing the Akhile brand.
The appointed candidate will report into a designated director and will be awarded the opportunity to have hands on experience, learn and grow within the organisation and industry.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
- 3 - 6 years’ work experience in the Geospatial industry;
- BSc GIS/ Geomatics/ Surveying or similar degree;
- Professional registration with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) advantageous;
- Driver’s license and own transport.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams);
- Excellent command of the English language (verbal and written);
- Excellent time management, prioritisation and communication skills (well organised)
- Be accurate, systematic and display attention to detail;
- Take initiative and critical thinking skills;
- ESRI (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS portal);
- Esri Apps (Survey 123, Operations Dashboard, other app builders)
- Microsoft SQL server
- Spatial analysis;
- GIS Software;
- Work well in teams and under limited supervision; and
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop web mapping applications and geo-processing tools to support GIS;
- Understand client requirements and develop GIS application to meet business needs;
- Use ARCGis to analyse the data spatially and interpolate the data to identify areas of requiring additional investigation;
- Analyse client issues and provide resolutions;
- Make presentations and demos so that clients clearly understand the GIS application;
- Maintain and support application according to changing business requirements;
- Assist in data integrity and quality assurance activities to ensure application stability;
- Stay current with latest developments in GIS field and industry;
- Recommend new technologies and techniques for application development;
- Ensure that application architecture meets business requirements;
- Design, code and integrate application with database management systems;
- Provide audit support;
- License management and renewals;
- Propose development initiatives to increase programming efficiency; and
- Work effectively in a team to develop high quality GIS solutions.
