Finance Controller

SUMMARY:
Our client in the FMCG Industry is hiring a Finance Controller – Accounts Payable to manage the accounts' payable function and lead a team of Clerks. Role is based in Gqeberha.

POSITION INFO:
Main Duties/Key Results Areas: Financial Controller – Accounts Payable

1. Leadership & Employee Development:
   
   • Lead and motivate a team of Accounts Payable Clerks, ensuring alignment with departmental goals.
   • Conduct monthly performance reviews, provide training, and assist new employees in meeting KPIs.
2. Processing & Deadlines:
   
   • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and credit notes using Pastel/Syspro.
   • Support clerks in meeting deadlines and review open Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs) for adjustments before deadlines.
3. Supplier Accounts Management:
   
   • Monitor supplier age analysis to maintain accounts in good standing, aiming for at least 80% current age.
   • Oversee supplier relationships, ensure adherence to payment terms, and address discrepancies promptly.
4. Account Queries Resolution:
   
   • Minimize and resolve account queries by assisting clerks and providing regular feedback on outstanding issues.
5. Supplier Reconciliations:
   
   • Review and support reconciliations before submission to managers or directors.
6. Reporting:
   
   • Prepare and compile weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reports as needed.
   • Maintain updated trackers and databases, and assist with cash flow management and financial forecasting.
7. Ad-Hoc Tasks:
   
   • Perform additional tasks as requested by management to support business needs.

• Educational Requirements:
  
  • Matric and a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional Experience:
  
  • Over 5 years of accounts payable experience with a proven track record in efficient transaction processing.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role, overseeing a team of Clerks.
  • Experience in import/export duties and customs processes is a plus.
• Technical Skills:
  
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Syspro, Pastel).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting standards.
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook for managing high email volumes.
• Financial Expertise:
  
  • Skilled in general ledger account reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with multi-currency transactions and conversions is advantageous.
