FMCG Internal Auditor
 
Are you a detail-oriented and experienced Internal Auditor with a robust finance background? Our client, a prominent Wholesale and Retail (FMCG) trading entity based in Johannesburg - Gauteng, is seeking a talented Internal Auditor to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to enhance operational effectiveness and contribute to the company's success.
 
Location: Johannesburg - Gauteng (with potential travel to other Provinces)

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

• Execute and oversee the full audit cycle, including risk management and control management, ensuring operational effectiveness, financial accuracy, and compliance with all relevant directives and regulations.
• Define the scope of internal audits, and gather, analyse, and evaluate accounting documentation, prior reports, data, and flowcharts.
• Prepare and deliver reports that detail audit findings and document the audit process.
• Provide objective, independent advice to validate legality, achieve goals, and improve processes.
• Identify vulnerabilities, recommend measures for risk mitigation, and suggest cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain ongoing communication with management and the audit committee.
• Document audit processes and prepare findings memorandums.
• Conduct follow-up audits to track the implementation of management's corrective actions.
• Continuously update knowledge on industry rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards.

• Proven experience as an Internal Auditor or Senior Auditor, ideally within the FMCG sector.
• Advanced skills in MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
• Ability to handle large volumes of data and compile detailed reports.
• In-depth knowledge of auditing standards, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

• Ensure compliance with finance and store policies and procedures.
• Attend bi-annual stock-takes to document processes, conduct independent verifications, and report findings.
• Travel nationally between stores for internal auditing functions.
• Safeguard company assets, including stock, equipment, and cash.

• Minimum Grade 12; Degree or qualification in Internal Auditing, Accounting, or Finance.
• Proven track record in internal auditing or similar auditing functions.
• At least 2 years of experience in the retail sector, with 2-5 years of internal audit experience in an FMCG environment being highly advantageous.
• An administration qualification is a plus if relevant skills are demonstrated.

• Deadline-driven, self-starter, and capable of working independently.
• Analytical, accurate, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Professional, approachable, and eager to learn with the initiative.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong liaison abilities.

• Must have reliable transport.
• Experience in a similar fast-paced role and willingness to travel for audits and site inspections on an ad hoc basis.

• Experience with Pastel (required), Evolution (advantageous), SAP (required), and Excel (required). Knowledge of Arch is a plus.
