Nature of employment:
The successful incumbent will be employed on a permanent basis after completion of a probationary period.

Experience:

• The successful incumbent will have at least five (5) or more years’ experience as an estimator within the earthing and lightning protection industry.
• Experience within electrical or construction field is an added advantage.

• Matric
• Bachelor’s degree within Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related fields
• Must be computer literate and proficient on Microsoft software
• Practical experience and knowledge of SANS Code of Conduct and SABS Standards or relevant codes of practice
• Own transport is mandatory

• Excellent communication and reporting skills-Ability to liaise effectively and competently with electrical, structural and consulting engineers, architects and mining professionals.
• Familiarity with SANS Code of Conduct and SABS standards and other relevant codes of practice.
• Excellent record keeping skills.
• Ability to multitask the quoting of multiple projects and tenders.

• Measure and design Lightning Protection Systems for houses, buildings and solar panels.
• Estimate the quantity of material needed to install Lightning Protection Systems for houses, building and solar panels.
• Preparation of enquiry or tender documentation in line with health and safety requirements.
• Preparation of quotations and bill of quantity.
• Preparation of technical reports with the quotation when required.
• Liaising with different departments for projects received regarding quantities and preparations of design drawings.
• Review and comprehension of technical documents.
• Research and create cost models with accurate financial quotations.
• Estimate quantities based on architectural drawings, site reports and Google Earth.
• Proficiency in designing, installing and maintaining lightning protection systems, including understanding the principles of risk management as outlined by SANS 62305.
• Review updated plans and specifications to ensure accurate estimates.
• Prepare clear and concise written proposals for potential customers.
• Maintain accurate records of project details.
• Quantity surveying duties as required.
