SUMMARY:
Our Pinetown based, global manufacuring client, requires an Engineering Manager with extensive experience in industrial project management to oversee machine and equipment installations and removals and site preparation activities in an operational plant environment.

POSITION INFO:
Key performance areas:

Project Planning and Execution:

Develop, update, and execute project plans based on acquired quotes and agreed timelines.
Lead and coordinate activities related to facility reconfiguration and site transitions, ensuring the site remains optimized for current and future operational requirements.
Monitor project progress, proactively identify risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
Ensure efficient execution while adhering to established safety regulations, site rules, and operational constraints.

Technical Oversight:

Read, interpret, and utilize engineering drawings to develop actionable scope and execution plans.
Define technical requirements and ensure alignment with project objectives and safety standards.
Collaborate closely with technical teams to ensure engineering specifications are clearly understood and adhered to.

Contractor Management & Compliance:

Engage with contractors daily, including building contractors, pipe fitters, riggers, mechanical fitters, and electricians.
Define, communicate, and manage contractor scopes to ensure precise and safe execution of work.
Enforce adherence to plant safety rules and the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1983, ensuring all contractors operate in a secure and compliant manner.

Stakeholder & Team Leadership:

Act as the primary point of contact between stakeholders, contractors, and internal teams.
Provide regular updates, manage expectations, and ensure alignment with project objectives.
Lead and motivate on-site teams, ensuring productivity and accountability.

Qualifications & Experience:
Education:

Diploma or degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or a related field).

Experience:

Extensive hands-on experience in industrial, mechanical, or electrical project management.
Proven track record in site-based, on-the-ground project execution.
Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and translate them into executable action plans.
Experience managing contractors and executing projects in an industrial setting.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic plant environment.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong project management capabilities, including familiarity with project scheduling and tracking tools.
Excellent leadership and supervisory skills, with a hands-on management approach.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage at all levels.
Solid understanding of industrial safety protocols, contractor management, and compliance requirements.
Problem-solving mindset with a practical, execution-focused approach.

Preferred experience:

Previous experience in plant transformation or facility reconfiguration projects.
