Engineering Manager (GCC)

SUMMARY:
A reputable packaging company is looking to employ a committed Engineering Manager (GCC), the candidate will oversee the plant operations. Engineering Manager is a General Machinery Regulation GMR 2.1 appointment in terms of the OHSACT and is responsible to provide operational service to the plant. The role ensures effective and safe movement of men, product, and material in the plant. To oversee maintenance operations and ensuring that all the needed schedules are in place, equipment are functioning optimally. Manage and optimize the Utilities operation to deliver superior service to the production depts. Implement the programs and systems to achieve and sustain high standards of plant & equipment capability, availability, and reliability.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

• Operational Oversight: Ensure the safe and efficient movement of personnel and materials in the plant.
• Maintenance Management: Oversee maintenance operations, ensuring equipment is functioning optimally and schedules are maintained.
• Project Implementation: Manage capital projects to enhance plant capabilities, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
• Performance Improvement: Develop and implement programs to sustain high standards of equipment availability and reliability.
• Utilities Optimization: Optimize utilities operations to support production departments effectively.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards, conducting regular inspections and risk assessments.
• Team Development: Assess staff performance, identify training needs, and provide development opportunities.

• Education: National N Diploma (N5/T3) in Mechanical or Electrotechnical (Heavy Current) or Engineering Diploma.
• Experience: 5+ years in a supervisory or management role within a similar environment, with relevant technical experience.
• Certifications: Trade Test as an Artisan (Mechanical/Electrical/Millwright) and Government Certification of Competency.

• Strong understanding of corrugator and converting machines.
• Basic computer and financial literacy.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
