SUMMARY:
Global supplier or energy equipment requires an Electrical Tendering Engineer for the Johannesburg Branch. Ideally the incumbent should have good knowledge of "Mine Winder Drive & Control Systems" OR have tendering experience with large electrical projects.
POSITION INFO:
The Sales & Contracts Engineer reports to the Sales & Contracts Manager
You will be responsible for preparing technical and commercial tenders in response to enquiries and requests for offers from clients, mainly in the Metal and Mining Industries.
Ideally the incumbent should have good knowledge of "Mine Winder Drive & Control Systems" OR have tendering experience with large electrical projects.
You will work closely the Sales and Projects Team and Senior Tendering Engineers
You will be required to convert tender enquiry scope to preliminary design, cost estimate and formal proposal and ultimately negotiate contracts within existing and new markets.
Administration and Support Services:
Updating of procedures and other relevant documentation towards improved cost estimation and tendering maturity level and ISO compliance.
Enforce disciplined administration within Sales and Contracts team.
Provide input to the tender portfolio master schedule.
Complete documentation from tender initiation to contract award and hand over to the Project Office.
Tendering, Cost Estimation and Marketing:
Attend Site Meeting with customers to promote the Company and provide solutions.
Managing the enquiry and tendering process to ensure the best technical, commercial and contractual solutions are offered to the client.
Obtaining technical solutions and specifications from Engineering Department.
Obtaining estimates of production and bought-out costs, engineering man-hours, etc. from our resources and from other vendors.
Preparation of quality tenders including accurate costing, technical commentaries, commercial terms and conditions of contract including supporting documentation etc.
Appraising clients commercial and contractual conditions and proposing amendments and qualifications and exceptions where necessary to protect the interest of the Company (NEC and/or FIDIC)
“Tender and Competence” presentations to clients.
Contract award negotiations with customers.
Develop new business opportunities by exploring other customers, industries, and markets.
Provide Company leadership in liaison with Internal Departments, International Associate Companies, Suppliers and Customers.
Apply Company Procedures.
Risk Management:
Actively involved in and responsible to identify and register legal, technical, commercial, schedule and execution risks.
Development of mitigation plans and the implementation thereof.
Compile and present Tender Vet for management approval
Customer and Supplier Satisfaction:
Maintain good relations with all customer and suppliers thus enhancing company image and Products in the Market Place.
Build partnerships with key suppliers.
Ensure that tendered products, installations and delivery align with vendor deliveries and inhouse stipulations.
Manage expectations through effective two-way open communication with Customers and relevant stakeholders.
Working Environment:
The core job is largely office and factory bound, but require travel to client sites surface and underground visit.
Extra hours may be required to meet tight deadlines and maintain Customer relations.
