JOB CONTEXT:

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. The role involves
electrical engineering specializing in transmission substation design will be responsible for the
design, development and implementation of High voltage substations.
The role involves technical leadership and detailed design to ensure the substation meets the
client and industry standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Full design of high voltage substation (33kV to 765kV)
• Lead the design team, develop from concept to detailed design. Full specifications, BOM, detailed design and equipment. Manage the multi skilled design team to produce the designs on time and as per specifications.
• Technical support for the equipment test and commissioning.
• He/she must have experience in the protection and control system design and integration.

• Minimum 5 years working in the design office doing substation designs. Substation capacity ranging from 33kV to 765kV. Proven track record.
• The candidate should be able to set up the design office requirements and -procedures.
• Candidate to possibly have done design in the medium voltage (1kV to 33kV) field as well.
• The candidate must have work with (not necessarily for) Eskom transmission.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, with specific expertise in servicing API 610 pumps, Sulzer pumps, Byron Jackson pumps (Stages 2, 3, 4), and Vertical Spider pumps.
• The candidate should be experienced in the transmission substation design and analysis software.
• The candidate should be able to manage the project for the design phases and ensure on time and within budget deliverables.
• The candidate should have exceptional knowledge on the field of Transmission substation design specification and criteria.
• The candidate must be highly motivated to produce good quality work.
• The candidate should also be able to take the reins on the project and drive the design deliverables on time.

• Minimum BEng in electrical engineering.
• Honours in High voltage substations design field.
• The candidate needs to be registered with ECSA as an electrical engineer.

• Will be agreed based on qualifications, applicable banking experience and previous earnings.
