VACANCY: ELECTRICAL & INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN
SA STEELWORKS- AIRPORT INDUSTRIA
CAPE TOWN
The Group has an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician position available at SA Steelworks. The successful candidate will provide support to the Electrical Department and will be situated at our Branch in the Airport Industria, Cape Town. The successful candidate will report to the Electrical Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installing new electrical lighting systems
- Maintaining new and existing electrical lighting systems
- Earth Leakage Testing
- Assembling Electrical Distribution Panels
- Repairs of Portable electrical equipment
- Repair and replace equipment, electrical wiring, or fixtures
- Perform general electrical maintenance
- Liaising with other departmental staff, supervisors and managers
- Using C-Works to plan, track and record tasks
- Ensuring that all work will comply with regulations in the OHSA and the company policies and procedures
- Request required materials for daily tasks and projects from the Electrical Manager
- Ensure that you understand the 24/7 operational needs and facilitate production goals
- Participate in RCM program
- Read and use electrical diagrams
- Ensure work standards are achieved
- Ensure the effective use of resources
- Maintain temperature, pressure, flow and level instrumentation
- Review electrical and instrument installations for compliance
- Knowledge of radiation systems will be advantageous
- Knowledge of induction furnaces will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of VSD’s, PLC’s and industrial networks.
- Calibration of test equipment
- Develop plant technical documentation and procedures
- Using C-Works to plan, track and record tasks
- Ensuring that all work will comply with regulations in the OHSA and the company policies and procedures
- Analyze and diagnose plant breakdowns and participate in the RCM program
- Compile comprehensive RCA Reports
- Compile electrical and PI&D drawings
- Improve plant safety standards
- Ensure the effective use of resources
- Plan and execute project and shutdown activities
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- N6 National Diploma/S4 National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant working plant experience
- Able to work in a pressurized and demanding environment
- Must have your own reliable transport
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Good communication skills
- Work overtime and standby as required by the process demands.
- Strong leadership and Coaching skills
- Ability to perform within a team
