Position: ESG Associate (Sustainability)
Job Grade: D1-D5

Location: Pretoria
Purpose of the Role:
As an ESG Associate, you will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of sustainability within the organization. Your responsibilities will include engaging stakeholders, assessing risks, and promoting awareness of sustainability and climate change issues. You will contribute to the long-term sustainability and ESG objectives of the company by ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and excelling in responsible investment practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and execution of sustainability and climate change strategies and programs.
- Conduct research on sustainability trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
- Prepare sustainability and climate change reports, presentations, and communication materials for stakeholders.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability programs, recommending improvements.
- Stay informed about environmental laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate climate change practices into business operations.
- Engage with employees, clients, and partners to promote sustainability and climate change initiatives.
- Conduct and facilitate training on sustainability and climate change matters.
Minimum Requirements:
- Honours degree in ESG-related fields (Environmental, Social, or Governance).
- 5-7 years of direct experience in sustainability and climate change.
- Strong analytical skills in sustainability analysis and sustainable finance.
- Experience in climate change adaptation, resilience, and mitigation issues.
- Knowledge of sustainability KPIs and experience in monitoring, measurement, and disclosure.
- Proficiency in data management and analytics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (MSc, MCom, MPhil, MBA) in a relevant field.
- Experience in sustainability assurance and investment in sustainability projects.
- Familiarity with frameworks such as PCAF, TPT, and SBTi, and best practice reporting standards.
