Duties:
Precision Welding Expert: Perform high-quality welding tasks using various welding techniques such as TIG (GTAW) and Stick (SMAW) to meet stringent petrochemical industry standards.
Material Specialist: Work with diverse materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel and exotic alloys, ensuring compatibility and durability for specific applications.
Safety Advocate: Adhere to strict safety protocols to prevent accidents, leaks and structural failures in hazardous environments.
Code Compliance Technician: Maintain compliance with industry codes such as ASME, API and other petrochemical regulations, ensuring weld integrity.
Inspection Partner: Collaborate with non-destructive testing (NDT) teams to verify weld quality and address any identified issues.
Responsibilities:
Welding Operations:
- Perform double-coded welding processes for pipelines, storage tanks, pressure vessels, and other critical equipment.
- Follow detailed blueprints, schematics, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
Inspection and Testing:
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of welds during and after completion.
- Assist in hydrostatic, X-ray, and ultrasonic tests for weld validation.
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Carry out routine and emergency maintenance on welding equipment and structures.
- Repair welds or structural issues identified during inspections.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of welding operations, including material used, procedure followed and inspections conducted.
- Prepare reports on completed welds and any deviations encountered.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Coordinate with engineers, inspectors and other trades to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior welders, emphasizing safety and precision.
Safety and Compliance:
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure the worksite complies with OHSA and petrochemical safety standards.
- Monitor work environments for potential hazards, reporting issues immediately.
Equipment Management:
- Operate and maintain welding equipment, ensuring tools are in optimal condition.
- Select appropriate filler materials and settings for different welding jobs.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on the latest welding technologies, techniques and certifications relevant to the petrochemical industry.
- Participate in regular training sessions to improve skills and maintain certifications.
Experience & Qualification- 3 to 5 years’ experience.
- Trade certificate for Double Coded Welding
