Distribution Services Manager

POSITION INFO:
My client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Distribution Services Manager to join their team in Johannesburg.

As a Distribution Services Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end distribution operations, ensuring seamless delivery of products to customers while optimising efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

You will collaborate with internal teams, third-party logistics providers, and stakeholders to drive operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement distribution strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and meet customer service expectations.
• Oversee warehouse and transportation operations, ensuring smooth product flow from manufacturing sites to distribution centers and final customers.
• Manage and optimize relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and transport partners.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements related to distribution and logistics.
• Monitor and analyze KPIs, delivery performance, and cost metrics, implementing improvement initiatives where necessary.
• Collaborate with supply chain, procurement, and sales teams to align distribution activities with business goals.
• Drive the implementation of new technologies and automation in distribution processes.
• Lead and develop a high-performing distribution team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in distribution, logistics, or supply chain management within the FMCG industry.
• Strong expertise in warehouse management, transportation, and distribution operations.
• Proven ability to manage 3PL partnerships and drive cost-effective logistics solutions.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership and people management experience.
• Proficiency in SAP, WMS, and other supply chain management systems.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
