SUMMARY:
A vacancy exists for a Deputy Unit Manager. Responsible for assisting in the Theatre Unit Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of an operating theatre, including managing staff, ensuring standards of patient care, maintaining equipment and coordinating procedures, while acting as the primary point of contact in the managers absence; essentially providing leadership and clinical expertise within the theatre.

POSITION INFO:
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage the staff requirements of the Unit
Conduct orientation and train new staff
Evaluate staff performance
Ability to implement and maintain standards
Organization ability is key
Cope well in stressful situations
Adaptable and flexible
Attention to detail
Do after hours call
Manage nursing standards and in-service training
Maintain a professional image and character
Disposition towards quality and excellent patient care
Enforce health and safety regulations
Accurate record keeping and management of stock

Requirements:

Current registration with SANC
Recognized Post Basic Qualification in Theatre Technique
At least five (5) years relevant experience as a Scrub Nurse
Proof of indemnity cover are pre-requisites
A pleasant deposition and excellent communication skills
Excellent leadership abilities
Own transport is a necessity
Knowledge and skill of Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Ophthalmology will be advantageous
