SUMMARY:
We are looking for a dedicated, professional, and proactive Deputy Principal to join our prestigious private school in Johannesburg South. As the Deputy Principal, you will play a key role in supporting the Principal in the day-to-day running of the school, assisting with strategic planning, academic leadership, and fostering a positive learning environment. POSITION INFO:
Qualifications Required:

A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed, PGCE, or equivalent)
Postgraduate qualification in Education Leadership or Management (advantageous)
Registration with SACE (South African Council for Educators)
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership role within an educational institution
Proven academic record and expertise in curriculum development

Skills and Experience Required:

Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and guide staff
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building relationships with staff, students, and parents
In-depth knowledge of the South African education system and curriculum (CAPS or IEB)
Experience in academic oversight, student discipline, and pastoral care
Proven ability to manage and implement strategic plans and educational initiatives
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Competence in managing school resources, budgets, and schedules
Ability to think critically, solve problems, and make decisions under pressure
A passion for student welfare and academic excellence

Job Description:

Assist the Principal in the daily management and operation of the school
Support the implementation of the school’s strategic plan and academic goals
Lead the development and review of the school curriculum to ensure academic excellence
Oversee the professional development of teaching staff and ensure that the highest standards of teaching and learning are maintained
Monitor student performance and provide interventions to support those in need of additional assistance
Take charge of student discipline and pastoral care, promoting a positive and respectful school culture
Work with the Principal and other school leaders to develop and manage school policies and procedures
Foster strong relationships with parents and the wider school community, providing regular updates on student progress and school developments
Manage school events, extracurricular activities, and student welfare initiatives
Deputize for the Principal in their absence and assume leadership responsibilities as required
