CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The primary purpose of this role is to provide vision and leadership in the strategic development of the University’s digital communication and marketing landscape. This involves ensuring the delivery of an engaging, innovative and high-quality digital experience across web and social media platforms for all audiences, with a strategy that aligns with the University's mission, vision, values, ethos and key strategic growth drivers.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

1. Provide strategic management and transformative leadership in Digital Communication and Marketing.
2. Enable and support learning and teaching, research, innovation and internationalisation, engagement, and transformation, to enhance the academic project and advance institutional strategic objectives.
3. Strategically deploy Digital Communication and Marketing within People and Operations to enhance the academic project as well as institutional and campus objectives.
4. Contribute towards resource stewardship and mobilisation in People & Operations within the Communication and Marketing Department.
5. Contribute to the building and enhancement of the Nelson Mandela University profile and positioning.

• Strong ability to build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including faculties, schools, and departments, to enhance the University’s digital presence.
• Expertise in managing and optimising digital experience platforms (DXP), enterprise web content management systems (CMS) and social media management systems to ensure a seamless, user-centric, and effective online presence that supports the University’s strategic objectives.
• Ability to plan, manage, and optimise budgets for digital communication and marketing initiatives, ensuring efficient use of resources to support institutional goals.

REQUIREMENTS

• M+4 qualification in Digital Marketing, Communications, IT, or a relevant related field.
• 6 years or more experience in digital communication, social media and web content management.
• Experience working in higher education or a similar environment.
• Innovative mindset and strong problem-solving abilities.
