SUMMARY:
Job Opportunity for a Credit Underwriting Manager. My client is looking for a Credit Underwriting Manager to join a leading global natural resources company. This role forms a key part of the company’s global Credit Risk team. The role involves credit risk monitoring, counter-party review analysis, and managing a team of Underwriting Analysts. The ideal candidate will work closely with global stakeholders to manage the credit risk portfolio and ensure the team adheres to performance goals.
As a senior member of the team, you will oversee day-to-day operations, manage the limit & rating setting process, and provide guidance to the team. This position requires expertise in managing complex credit structures, asset valuations, and addressing atypical credit risks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and mentor a team of Credit Underwriting Analysts
• Support the Global Head of Underwriting with credit risk assessments and reporting
• Perform in-depth financial analysis, limit and rating setting, and re-assessments for a global oil marketing portfolio
• Provide guidance on credit risk appetite and asset valuations
• Monitor sector trends and produce macro-economic analysis
• Report on credit risk performance and KPIs to senior management
• Build and maintain effective relationships with senior management and the commercial credit team

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Risk Management, Accounting, Economics, or Business Studies
• Post-graduate qualifications, Chartered Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or similar certifications are advantageous
• At least 8 years of experience in credit risk or credit underwriting, ideally in mining, commodity trading, banking, or consultancy
• Strong financial analysis and reporting experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access); coding skills in VBA, Power BI, or Python are advantageous
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
