SUMMARY:
Signa Opportunity is recruiting unemployed youth for quality workplace experience through the Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative.
About the YES Initiative
The initiative was launched by the President in 2018 and is a partnership with the government and labour department to collectively devise a national plan to build economic pathways for South Africa’s youth by creating workplace opportunities for South African youth over 12 months.

Position: Continuous Improvement Engineer

Stipend: R5 500 pm

Location: Boksburg

POSITION INFO:
Responsibilities:

Process Analysis:

Learn to analyze existing processes and identify areas for improvement.
Assist in conducting time and motion studies to optimize workflow.

Data Collection and Analysis:

Gain exposure to data collection techniques and contribute to data analysis.
Work with the team to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) for processes.

Implementation of Improvement Initiatives:

Assist in implementing process improvement initiatives under the guidance of senior engineers.
Participate in pilot projects to test and refine proposed changes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with different departments to gather insights and collaborate on improvement projects.
Contribute to fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.

Documentation and Reporting:

Learn to create and maintain documentation for improvement projects.
Contribute to progress reports and presentations for stakeholders.

Learning and Professional Development:

Pursue ongoing learning opportunities in continuous improvement methodologies.
Attend relevant training sessions and workshops to enhance technical skills.

Requirements:

Recent completion of a relevant degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Basic understanding of engineering principles and process optimization concepts.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Be between the ages of 18 and 34.
Must not have taken part on the YES Programme.

Preferred Skills:

A positive attitude and enthusiasm for continuous improvement.
Participation in relevant coursework or training programs.
Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
