POSITION INFO:

We are looking for a results-driven Construction Manager who will be responsible for planning of project and overseeing their progress from start to finish in a timely and cost-effective manner. Key responsibilities will include organization, implementation, and scheduling of the project. As the Construction Manager, you will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution. With your keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills, you will ensure that all construction activities align with the established timeline and budget.

What you’ll do:

• Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion.
• Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
• Oversee all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with safety regulations.
• Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors.
• Select tools, materials and equipment and track inventory.
• Meet contractual conditions of performance.
• Review the work progress on daily basis.
• Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status.
• Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones.
• Obtain work permits.
• Manage and Plan Resource utilization.
• Analyze, manage and mitigate risks (Lessons Learnt).
• Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques.

Your expertise:

• Experience: Essential 3 – 5 years
• Experience: Preferred 5 – 10 years
• Proven working experience as construction manager.
• Advanced knowledge of construction management processes means and methods.
• Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.
• Understanding of all facets of the construction process.
• Ability to plan and see the “bigger picture”.
• Competent in conflict and crisis management
• Leadership and human resources management skills.
• Excellent time and project management skills.
• Required Product Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of PLC, SCADA and Electrical products
  • Electrical systems functional design analyses
  • Knowledge of popular SCADA systems (Wonderware, Adroit, CITECH) and suite of products
  • Knowledge of popular HMI systems (Schneider)
  • Knowledge of Networking design and configuration (Ethernet, MODBUS, Fibre optic, Profibus, Device net, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Office, Microsoft SQL
  • Knowledge of Popular Networking, Measuring and Instrumentation

Qualifications:

• Essential qualifications:
  • ND: Electrical Engineering
  • Wireman’s License
  • Trade Test: Electrical
  • Basic Health and Safety Requirements
• Advantage qualifications:
  • ND/Bsc: Construction Management

Other information applicable to the opportunity:

• Contract Position - 6 Months
• Location: Vereeniging - Onsite
• Physical Demands: Site based activities. Occasionally work in unsanitary conditions. Standby and overtime, working in irregular hours.
  
• Travel: Occasional travelling
